Rhoscolyn

I love making images of seascapes and one of my favourite places is Rhoscolyn, a small community at the north western end of Ynys Mon (Anglesey) in north Wales. It’s relatively quiet and free from the mass of tourists you see elsewhere in north Wales. It’s truly beautiful with stunning scenery which really is a photographer’s delight.

There is a small car park close to the beach, but I usually park close to the church as you enter Rhoscolyn. From here you go up the lane and follow footpath signs which will take you around the magnificent headland. Here you get amazing views of the rugged coastline and the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia) in the distance.

There is also a prominent landmark called the Rhoscolyn Beacon. This is a tall navigational marker erected on Ynysoedd Gwylanod (seagull’s islands) to warn ships of the treacherous rocks.

Here is a collection of some of the images I made on my latest trip this week. Some show the force of nature, others I’ve used long exposures to tame it and give an alternate more calming view.
